Granite Mountain

The first time I hiked Granite Mountain it was with Felix. It was a few years ago and by his suggestion. We did the hike in early spring when snow was plentiful and white out conditions were waiting for us up top. We didn’t know this though because we hadn’t done a lick of research or preparation. If I had been asked at the time what the 10 essentials were I would have given a puzzled look. My hiking has evolved but I’ll remember this initial ascent as one of the most dangerous hiking experiences I’ve had. I was wearing brand new redwing office boots, Felix was rocking some Air Jordans.
